Two men were found dead Friday morning along Illinois Route 24 in rural Woodford County following a single-vehicle crash.

The Woodford County Sheriff's Office said that at 3:45 a.m., deputies were called to the intersection of County Road 2500E and Route 24 west of El Paso after they received a report of the crash, which included injuries. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a red 2006 Dodge Charger in a ditch, having collided with a power pole on the passenger side.

Inside the vehicle were two men in their early 20s. They were pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation found that the vehicle had been traveling west on Route 24 at a high rate of speed when it struck the power pole, the Sheriff's Office said. In addition, deputies said they found open alcohol in the vehicle.
