East Peoria police officers were dispatched to the Cedar Street Bridge after receiving a report of someone sitting on the edge of the bridge late Saturday night.

The 19-year-old man moved to a service platform when officers arrived and was “threatening to jump from the platform,” according to the East Peoria Police Department. After about an hour, officers convinced the man to return to the bridge deck.

No injuries were reported, and the teenager was taken to a local hospital to undergo a psychological evaluation.

The East Peoria Police Department was assisted by the Fondulac Park District Police Department, Illinois State Police, Peoria Police Department, Peoria Fire Department and Advanced Medical Transport.
