13 More Properties to be Demolished in Hinton
HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) - According to Hinton City Council President, Jim Leslie, 13 more properties are set to be demolished in Hinton as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to remove dilapidated strictures. This marks the second year the city has received grant funding to remove dilapidated structures. The list includes 1780 Temple Street, 1706 Temple Street, 303 13th Avenue, 206 13th Avenue, 316 12th Avenue, 307 11th Avenue, 717 Temple Street, 708 Ballengee Street, 700 Ballengee Street, 419 James Street, 108 and 138 Herman Street and 254 Main Street. West Virginia American Water Awards Grants for Fire Protection
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) — West Virginia American Water recently announced that 29 agencies within its service areas will receive grant money for fire protection gear, equipment, and training. Among the recipients are two departments in Summers County: the Summers County Volunteer Fire Department and the Jumping Branch-Nimitz Volunteer Fire Department. The Jumping Branch-Nimitz department will use its grant to purchase two ratcheting fire hydrant wrenches, totaling $740.40. The Summers County Volunteer Fire Department will allocate its $842.70 grant towards acquiring AED (automated external defibrillator) equipment. The Summers County Volunteer Fire Department expressed their gratitude on Facebook, thanking American Water Company for the support. They also indicated that they will provide updates on how the grant funds are utilized in the future. The grants are part of West Virginia American Water’s ongoing efforts to support local fire departments and enhance emergency response capabilities across its service areas.
