Car Misses Roundabout, and Driver Arrested for OWI and Possible Drug Charges.
On June 30, 2024 at 5:29 PM, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call regarding a one vehicle crash at the roundabout just south of Lancaster at Hwy 61 and Hwy 81. The caller reported an orange Kia Soul was disabled near there and unsure what was struck. The investigating deputy arrived and met with the driver, identified as Ronald Walsh, age 63, of Horicon, WI. Walsh said that he “forgot” the roundabout was there as he no longer lived in the area. The investigating deputy noticed the odor of intoxicants and Walsh’s speech appeared slurred. After an investigation, Walsh was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated. While searching Walsh, the deputy found what Walsh admitted was a paper fold containing cocaine. He also admitted to marijuana smoking paraphernalia in his car. Walsh was arrested for OWI 1st Offense, and taken testing. He was also cited for Inattentive Driving. Other charges are pending further investigation of the items located upon arresting Walsh. Walsh’s vehicle sustained disabling damage from the crash and was towed from the scene by Bennett’s Towing of Lancaster.
Watertown detective sergeant Laura Bohlman graduates from FBI National Academy
WATERTOWN — Watertown Police Chief David Brower announced Friday that Watertown Detective Sergeant Laura Bohlman has graduated as a member of the 290th session of the FBI National Academy. A ceremony was held June 6 at the National Academy in Quantico, Va. Bohlman is one of a handful of officers in department history to complete the program. PRELIMINARY HEARINGS HELD IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING CASE. Preliminary hearings were held in Fond du Lac County court last Friday for the mother of a 12-year-old girl who allegedly trafficked the girl and the man who allegedly paid to sexually assault the girl. Thirty-one-year-old Elia Antonio waived her hearing and was bound over for trial. Thirty-three-year-old Juan Carlos Rocha Mejia’s hearing was rescheduled for July 25th because he still doesn’t have an attorney. Rocha Mejia was arrested during a SWAT operation on May 19th after Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Town of Oakfield home. The girl showed up there after breaking away from Rocha Mejia who had her in a van was trying to tie her down, blindfold, and sexually assault her. According to the criminal complaint the victim’s mother claimed Rocha Mejia intimidated and threatened her into turning the girl over to him.
