Free fan distribution event held by TXU, Catholic Charities Diocese of Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX — Summer is coming in hot this week in Lubbock and the South Plains with triple digit temperatures reaching up to 105°. To help families in the Hub City beat the heat, TXU Energy and Catholic Charities, Diocese of Lubbock will partner for a drive-thru fan distributing event, said a press release.

On Saturday, volunteers will distribute 1,000 tower fans provided by Walmart Supercenter at 1911 Marsha Sharp Freeway, off of Avenue Q to South Plains families to provide relief from the heat.

The fan distribution was made possible by a $22,000 donation from TXU Energy as a part of its signature Beat the Heat program, the release said. Additionally, TXU Energy has helped thousands of Texans stay safe and cool during dangerous summer heat for more than 25 years.

According to the release, fans will be given on a first-come, first-served basis and one per car. No pre-registration will be required however a short form will be needed for each car picking up a fan at the event.

The event will be held at Catholic Charities of Lubbock at 102 Ave. J. It was set to begin at 8:00 a.m.
