LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock students returned to school last week and one of many parents’ worries is to ensure their kids arrive at school safely, on-time and in the correct transportation.

A South Lubbock business, Lone Star Pack n’ Ship, will provide parents a child identification card as a resource to easily contact parents and school districts in case a child gets lost during school hours or after school hours.

Cindy Condon, owner of Lone Star Pack n’ Ship in South Lubbock, told EverythingLubbock.com the idea to create a child identification card was from inquiries from concerned Lubbock parents following a recent incident.

“We had a few customers come in asking for IDs for their children after some scary instances of children being dropped at the wrong bus stop on the first few days of school,” said Condon.

After posting on social media that Lone Star Pack n’ Ship was going to make child ID cards, it quickly gained popularity with parents commenting their interest in obtaining a card for their children.

“[I] didn’t expect it to spread all over Lubbock,” Condon expressed.

Condon said parents can get three free printed laminated child id cards to put in their backpack, lunch kit and more. Each child will receive 3 id cards, said Condon.

She also mentioned that any Lubbock-area resident can inquire to receive an id card.

The identification card will have a photo, name, emergency contact information and the name of your child’s school district along with its phone number.

Parents must pick up the id cards at Lone Star Pack n’ Ship located at 2614 130th Street. Condon said the free id cards will be offered until the end of August.

If you or anyone you know is interested in obtaining an id card, email packshiplubbock@yahoo.com or call Cindy Condon at 806-993-5083.
