BORGER, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Walmart in Borger gave the Hutchinson County United Way a $2,000 grant for this year’s Back to School Fair.

According to the HCUW, the donation will help purchase school supplies needed for local students. The goal is to help students overcome any barriers that prevent students from getting an education and it allows local organizations provide the needs of students without the duplication of resources.

Officials say the event is for students enrolled in any school in Hutchinson County. Along with handing out backpacks filled with school supplies, the event will offer other needs for students. Organizations will offer services such as immunizations, dental check-ups, child ID and fingerprinting, haircuts, hygiene supplies and GED and FASFA information.

The Back to School Fair will take place on Saturday, August 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Frank Phillips College located at 1301 Roosevelt St in Borger.
