    Former Lipscomb County man arrested on animal cruelty charges

    LIPSCOMB COUNTY, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Douglas Leon William, a former resident of Lipscomb County, was arrested on felony charges of alleged cruelty to animals after an investigation led by a Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Special Ranger Ben Eggleston and the Ellis County Sheriffs Office.

    According to officials from TSCRA, an employee of a ranch located in Ellis County, Oklahoma discovered a horse owned by the ranch had been allegedly shot and killed. Officials noted that Special Ranger Eggleston and the Ellis County sheriff’s deputies allegedly recovered evidence linking Williams to the crime.

    TSCRA officials stated that reports and evidence were submitted to the Ellis County District Attorney’s office reviewed the investigation and issued a warrant for Williams for cruelty to animals. Williams was arrested on Aug. 5 in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.

    Officials also stated that Williams waived extradition and was taken into custody by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office with his bond being set at $10,000.
