Flash flood victims identified, remembered
The Alton couple who died in a flash flood event in Jersey County has been identified. Terry and Carolyn Dooley perished when their car was overcome by water along Beltrees Road, east of Fessler Road, near Mill Creek not far from Elsah. The driver of another car that was also trapped by the rising water was able to call 9-1-1 to report the emergency and was later rescued.
Jerseyville Man Sentenced to Decade In Prison For Pittsfield Pursuit in December
A Jerseyville man arrested on a slough of charges for a traffic stop in Pittsfield in December will now spend a decade in prison. 50-year old Dennis R. Kraushaar pleaded guilty to Class X felony methamphetamine delivery between 15-100 grams, possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing of police, and driving on a suspended license in Pike County Circuit Court yesterday.
Carrollton Home Gutted By Sunday Fire
An early morning fire yesterday in Carrollton gutted a home. The Journal Courier reports that a call for a structure fire was paged out just after 5:15 yesterday morning at 163 Maple Street in Carrollton. When Carrollton firefighters arrived, flames were showing out of the front and right sides of the single-story home.
