Gronk Identifies What Chiefs Must Do To Become 'Dynasty'

The Kansas City Chiefs have made it to six straight AFC Championship games, and during that time, they've now gone to four Super Bowls (including Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday) and won two of them. However, according to legendary NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski, the team hasn't done enough to be considered a dynasty just yet.

Gronkowski won three Super Bowls during his 11 seasons with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and knows a thing or two about paying the Chiefs, having been a part of two of Patrick Mahomes' three career playoff losses.

"They are that close to a dynasty. If they win this game, I would say they are a dynasty," Gronkowski told CNN Sports . "Even if they lose and they won a Super Bowl next year, I would say they’re a dynasty. They just got to get that third Super Bowl win over a decade."

This Sunday, the Chiefs will play the San Francisco 49ers as the team attempts to accomplish something Gronkowski never did by winning back-to-back Super Bowls.

Kansas City is two-point underdogs against the 49ers, with each team’s quarterback drawing comparisons to one of Gronkowski’s former teammates, Tom Brady.

Mahomes has been called the potential successor to Brady as the NFL’s undisputed greatest player of all time.

Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers has garnered comparisons to Brady for another reason, though, for being underrated.

Purdy was the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, but he has quickly proven himself to be much more than Mr. Irrelevant, similar to how Brady overcame skepticism as a starter after being drafted No. 199 overall back in 2000.

The Chiefs will have the opportunity to earn Gronk’s respect as a dynasty this Sunday in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium at 6:30 p.m. EST.
