Patrick Mahomes Has Funny Reaction to Use of Infamous 40-yard Dash Footage

For some, the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine is a make-or-break drill. Run fast and your draft stock could rise, but run slow and you become the butt of jokes for years...just ask Tom Brady.

But now, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the latest to have his 40-yard dash played over and over...and not for a good reason.

Prior to the Scouting Combine, Mahomes jokingly posted on X that all he wanted was for NFL Network to not again show his 40-yard dash with overlays that show other athletes running faster than him.

So Mahomes asked nicely, but did NFL Network listen?

Of course not, and during the telecast of the 40-yard dash for defensive players, they put Mahomes' 40-yard dash and overlayed it with one defensive player who was faster than him and one who wasn't.

So we have Mahomes asking nicely and then NFL Network not listening. The funny jabs back and forth ended with Patrick again posting on X a GIF that showcased his disapproval.

It is clear that it doesn't matter if you are an MVP winner and three-time Super Bowl winner, you are not above being the punchline in jokes.

For Tom Brady, his 40-yard dash is now even more infamous than Mahomes' and the retired quarterback decided to run it gain, over two decades later and to the shock of some, he was actually faster.

Brady posted a 5.28 40-yard dash time in 1999 and then followed that up with a "crisp" 5.18 40-yard dash this week.

So whether you're Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady, you can't escape being the punchline in jokes as both have now had their infamous 40-yard dashes played over and over again for the amusement of fans.

And it surely won't be the last we see of either of them, as come this time next year, they will still be doing the rounds on TV with NFL Network no doubt having the footage lined up perfectly again.
