Travis Kelce Is an Unwilling Participating in the Royal Family Feud After Meeting Prince William

Travis Kelce had a great time on Friday, June 21, meeting Prince William and two of his three children, Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 8, at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end had lovely things to say about the royal family member, but he didn’t expect to get dropped in the feud.

Kelce and his teammates are nominated for an ESPY award for best team of the year while Prince Harry is expected to make an appearance to receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service for his work on the Invictus Games . So, of course, the British tabloids are claiming the NFL star is going to have to choose a side in the rift. “Travis is like the most sociable, happy-go-lucky, kind person in any room and is sure to want to say hello to the Prince and interact with the Sussexes,” an insider told The Sun .

That sounds like a pleasant thing to do if Kelce and Prince Harry happen to cross paths, but the source had more to say on the hot topic. “For Harry, it could be a potentially awkward encounter given that Travis spoke so warmly about and praised William,” they added. “This will make headlines no matter what happens. If Harry ducks Travis that would look weird and if they chat the question will be whether they discussed William.” Can we all just say now that this conversation will likely not happen?

If Kelce and the Duke of Sussex do meet, it’s going to be a lovely exchange — just like it was with Prince William. Kelce seems to get along with everyone and he can enjoy a friendship with both of them without ever stepping into the royal family feud . It’s a case where picking a side just isn’t necessary.

Kelce gushed about meeting the Prince of Wales on his Wednesday, June 26 episode of the New Heights podcast. “Dude, he was the coolest motherf–ker,” he said enthusiastically. “He was so cool! I didn’t realize this because obviously we’re backstage meeting him because he was there with little George and Charlotte, and they were an absolute delight to meet.” He bragged to his fans that “we met royalty, guys” — and he will probably be equally impressed to meet a second prince if Harry and Kelce come into contact at the July 11 ESPYs. Kelce just seems like the kind of guy who is happy to meet just about everybody, so don’t expect him to weigh in on a feud he’s got nothing to do with.
