The NFL is in one of the most dull times of the year. This is the dead period, where virtually nothing is happening as we all await the new year to start with training camp just a few weeks away. While we do wait, other sports are having some exciting times, like the NBA. And, some pair of Kansas City Chiefs players have delved deep into some of the craziness over there.

Even if you do not follow the NBA, you know who the Golden State Warriors are. They have a lot in common with the Chiefs, as they are the most recent dynasty in the NBA. Stephen Curry, their best player and the greatest shooter of all time, has helped lead the franchise to four rings over the last nine years, with two other NBA Finals appearances during that time as well.

One of the more crucial parts of that dynasty was shooting guard Klay Thompson, who is widely regarded as the second-greatest shooter of all time, and easily a top-five shooter ever. Well, on Monday, when all of the free agency news in the NBA started to pick up, he made a decision to leave the team he had been with for over a decade.

Thompson chose to go to the Dallas Mavericks , who also happens to be the team that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a super fan of. We saw him, Travis Kelce, and his wife Brittany Mahomes at several games this season sitting courtside, but more recently during the NBA Playoffs and NBA Finals.

On Monday, Mahomes reacted to the surprising move on Twitter by tweeting three flexing emojis.

Then, his teammate Charles Omenihu tweeted that he wished the Los Angeles Lakers got Thompson, which initially was a possibility. Mahomes did a little showing off on Twitter by quote-tweeting the tweet, once again letting everyone know where his NBA alliance stands.

Hopefully this NBA offseason with free agency and Summer League games in a few weeks help us breeze past this dead period, as we get ready for training camp across the league.
