Tom Brady had one of the most successful careers in NFL history, but still wonders if he had enough fun on the field.

In an appearance on The Pivot podcast, the future Hall of Famer said he believes the quarterbacks playing today -- especially Patrick Mahomes -- are having more fun than he did.

"When I see these young players, I see like Patrick [Mahomes] out there at quarterback, running around, laughing, having fun, I'm like, 'I used to be like that. What the hell happened?' " Brady said, via The Daily Mail .

Brady added that he was much more "serious" when he played, but believes it couldn't have been any other way.

"I just got too serious, but, again, I can only look back and think, 'Okay, if I do it again, which I'll never do it again, I would be different.' But the reality is, you can't."

While Brady may be envious of Mahomes' ability to have fun on the field, the Chiefs quarterback has made it clear that he doesn't want Brady's career. In an interview after being named to the 2024 TIME100 Most Influential People list, Mahomes said he would not want to play as long as Brady and would rather emphasize his family time.

"I've looked, if I played until Tom [Brady's] age, my daughter would be 19, 20 years old...I would love to play that long...At the same time, I want to be there for my daughter," Mahomes said.

"If I can do that, I'll continue to play. But if I feel like it's taking away from my family time, that's when I'll know it's time to go."
