4 Reasons The Kansas City Chiefs Will Three-Peat As Super Bowl Champs

The Kansas City Chiefs won the NFL’s battle royale of 2023, and now, they are aiming to make history.

A three-peat Super Bowl champion would be a first in NFL history, but the Chiefs have one of the rare opportunities to do just that. Not only that, but they are also in a premier spot to accomplish it.

Here are four reasons why the Chiefs will win it all again, for better or worse.

    1. Patrick Mahomes is unflappable

The previous three championships would have been impossible without Patrick Mahomes.

Andy Reid has had quality quarterbacks in the past, but Mahomes has proven to have every last bell and whistle one wants in a signal-caller.

He’s clutch when it matters most. He also works at a supreme level when the game isn’t on the line. His floor is losing the AFC Championship. As such, he already is a coin flip to make the Super Bowl by default.

At this point, he is this generation’s Tom Brady.

    2. Travis Kelce will start 2024 even healthier

Tom Brady had Rob Gronkowski. Patrick Mahomes has Travis Kelce.

While Kelce won’t be around forever, the tight end is on pace to start the year in better health than last season.

The Chiefs began 0-1 against the Lions without the tight end in 2023. This year, barring a calamity, Kelce will give the Chiefs a boost they did not have in Week 1 last year.

If they start 1-0 with a healthy Kelce, they have a better shot at locking up the top seed in the conference, making their playoff path much easier.

    3. Addition of Punt God

The Chiefs have improved at perhaps one of the most underrated positions in the NFL.

The more accurate a punter is, the worse the opponent’s starting field position. Landing a punt in the coffin corner or booming it 5-10 yards further is like adding a needed first down to opponents in order to score.

This alone sets the Chiefs ahead of where they were last year.

Matt Araiza, also known as “Punt God,” is effectively a rookie kicker but has a chance to be one of the best in the league. The Bills had him but cut ties amid controversy. Now, the Chiefs have him.

    4. Rebuilding division

The first step toward any Super Bowl is winning one’s division, and the Chiefs might have an easier division this year than last season.

The AFC West is rebuilding in one way or another across the board.

The Chargers, perhaps the Chiefs’ biggest contender, are reloading their roster to fit new head coach Jim Harbaugh’s squad. The Raiders and Broncos, meanwhile, are unsure who their starting quarterbacks will be in 2024.

As such, almost by default, the Chiefs are slated for another home game in the playoffs. This will help get some momentum going for Mahomes’ team.
