    Kansas City area counties included in severe thunderstorm warning

    UPDATE, 9:42 p.m. | Evergy reports nearly 26,000 outage across the Kansas City area.

    UPDATE, 9:11 p.m. | Evergy reports over 24,000 outages across the Kansas City area.

    UPDATE, 8:55 p.m. | Storms that moved across the Kansas City area caused several tractor trailers to overturn in Riverside.

    UPDATE, 7:13 p.m. | The NWS issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties in Kansas until 7:45 p.m.

    In Missouri, Caldwell, Clay, Clinton, Livingston, Platte and Ray counties are also under a severe thunderstorm warning until 8 p.m.

    A severe thunderstorm watch is also in effect for the Kansas City area until midnight.

    UPDATE, 6:26 p.m. | The NWS issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Buchanan, Caldwell, Clay, Clinton, Platte counties in Missouri until 7:15 p.m.

    The severe thunderstorm watch for the Kansas City area is also still in effect.

    UPDATE, 4:45 p.m. | The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch that includes the greater Kansas City area until midnight. Areas include Topeka, Emporia, Lawrence, Kansas City and along Interstate 70 east into Missouri.

    ORIGINAL REPORT, 3:30 p.m. | The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of northern Missouri until 9 p.m.

    Included in the watch are Adair, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Mercer, Putnam, Schuyler, Sullivan and Worth counties.

    During this time, tornadoes, wind gusts up to 70 mph and two-inch hail are possible.
