    Kansas City-area hospitals respond to firework injuries

    Hospitals in the Kansas City area are reporting firework-related injuries from Independence Day celebrations.

    Children's Mercy shared Friday that it has treated 19 children and teenagers for firework injuries since Monday.

    The patients primarily suffered injuries to the hands and eyes.

    University Health updated that overnight from the Fourth of July to Friday morning, the hospital treated 10 total patients injured by fireworks.

    The University of Kansas Health System said it treated 35 patients with firework-related injuries since Monday.
