KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The weekend following the Independence Day holiday is here and there are plenty of things to do, including places to still see fireworks across the Kansas City area.
Here are 14 events going on this weekend — July 5 through July 7 — that are worth checking out.

Eight-time Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney is heading to Arrowhead Stadium this Weekend. The “Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour” starts Saturday at 5 p.m.
Chesney is bringing a group of musical talents along with him. The Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker will be on the Arrowhead stage as well. Tickets start at $30. Click here to find tickets.
This event will take place on Friday, July 5, at the Bluhawk Shopping Mall in Overland Park. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and will have food, live music, and a fireworks display lighting up the night sky.
The City of Kearney Fireworks Celebration that was scheduled for Wednesday has been moved to Friday, July 5 and will begin at 5 p.m. with inflatable air toys, cotton candy and concessions. The fireworks show is scheduled for 9:30 p.m.
View the latest Weather Alerts in the Kansas City region on FOX4 KC Pet Project will pass out free donated pet food in a drive through giveaway at their Swope Park campus in Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, July 5. It’s from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until it’s gone. They’ll give away pet food and supplies for dogs, cats, birds and more, thanks to a generous donations from Chewy and The Humane Society.
The Kansas City Current will face the Orlando Pride on Saturday at CPKC Stadium. The match begins at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets start at $70.
This weekend’s First Fridays theme is Boom in the Bottoms. Shops will be open, and there will be live music and food trucks. Hear the patriotic tunes, shop, and stop and have a coffee, drinks, or something to eat. July 5-7 in the Historic West Bottoms

The Kansas City community comes alive as arts organizations, galleries, studios, and a wide variety of businesses in the district feature local, regional, national, and international artists . There is also a large assortment of food trucks.

The Independence Day party in Independence starts at 5 p.m. Friday, July 5, near the Independence Visitors Center. Food trucks, music, a kite display with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
See the latest headlines in Kansas City and across Kansas, Missouri Excelsior Springs will host a city-wide free cookout and giant sidewalk sale Friday, July 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at City Saver Thrift, which is part of Liberty Disaster Relief in the Northland.
The Overland Park Farmers’ Market will be open Saturday, July 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown. Come out and see the wide variety of products, including fresh produce, local foods and unique specialty items.
Bring a chair or blanket and some snacks and watch timeless classics and Hollywood blockbusters every Saturday through October at the Legends Outlets. This Saturday’s movie is “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.” The movie should start between 7 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
The Berkley Riverfront Festival will take place Sunday, July 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free weekly event will have vendors, music, food trucks and yard games.
After being postponed for weather, the City of Odessa will have its fireworks show on Sunday, July 7. The event begins at 5 p.m. along Main Street with food trucks and multiple vendors. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. No personal fireworks are allowed.
The city of Overland Park rescheduled its Star Spangled Spectacular fireworks for Friday at 10 p.m. Due to the date change, there will be no food trucks or musical performances. The fireworks were originally Friday.
