Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has spoken glowingly about the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift as he gave his take on why their relationship has worked.

The romance between the NFL tight end and the pop superstar has united music and sports fans alike after the pair went public back last September. Since then, the loved-up pair's relationship has played out in the glare of the spotlight - with the duo often supporting each other at their respective engagements.

In the case of Swift , she attended several Chiefs games last season en route to her boyfriend and his teammates securing a third Super Bowl ring in five years. Meanwhile, Kelce has travelled to a plethora of locations across the globe to support his beau in the crowd at various stops on her world tour.

Having seemingly found a way to make their romance work in spite of their packed schedules, Chiefs helmsman Reid has now given his perspective on how the pair have kept the flame alive. In a revealing exchange on The Athletic's "Scoop City" podcast, he contended: "He can handle it. I think there's a great escape for him.

"I said that about Taylor too. I mean, she comes to the game, she can kind of escape having to be the show," he continued, as he issued some wise observations about the pair's dynamic. "And when he goes to her concerts, she's the star and he can be hanging out there and be the support or the waterboy.

Speaking on the SiriusXM podcast " Let's Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gary " previously, Reid also recounted the time he met Swift previously during her time growing up in Philadelphia. This fact led to some gentle banter between the Chiefs coach and his player too in the locker room.

He said: "Yeah, listen, she's been great. I knew her before, from Philadelphia. Her dad [Scott Swift] played at [University of] Delaware and was a big football fan and good guy. So I had met him there and her. So that was the last thing Trav wanted to hear, that I knew her before him. (laughs) She told him, ‘I know your coach,'. And he went, ‘Oh, God, come on!’ (laughs).

Ultimately, the veteran NFL figure has been impressed with his Kelce has dealt with the ensuing swell of interest in his personal life in light of his romance with the "Cruel Summer" singer. Noticing the star's maturity throughout the last campaign, Reid revealed that his player has religiously kept his focus firmly on his day job.

"She's a good girl. And I'm happy for Trav," he said, as he paid tribute to his player, asserting: "And there has been no distraction that way at all. And Trav’s handled it right, she's handled it right and we just move forward. So it hasn't been a problem at all."
