Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Puts Entire Team on Notice Ahead of Training Camp

The Kansas City Chiefs' rookies report to training camp on July 16, however, the team's veteran players don't check in until July 20. For Chiefs' returning vets, they spent the offseason celebrating their first, second, or third Super Bowl victory.

While Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was already the face of the NFL and tight end Travis Kelce's fame exponentially blew up after he started dating Taylor Swift, the whole team is experiencing a boost in attention.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid takes no issues with players leaning into their fame during the offseason, but he issued a stern warning to the entire roster before they return to St. Joseph, Missouri for training camp.

“I’m okay with it, long as they’re ready to go,” Reid said during an appearance on "Scoop City ."

“And so training camp is kind of that proving ground. If you’re not ready to go, it’s going to be obvious quickly. Just from the whether it’s a conditioning test or the long drive drills that we do. Those things that are, you’re going to find out who’s in and who’s not in and who’s put their time.”

While this could seem like a pointed message to Kelce, who's been all over the world this offseason, Reid made his thoughts oh his relationship with Swift very clear.

“I think it’s great for him,” Reid said of the media spotlight on their relationship. “He can handle it. Matter of fact, I think he probably loves it. To a point. I think there’s a great escape for him.

"I said that about Taylor, too. I mean, she comes to the game, she can kind of escape having to be the show. And Travis can do that. And when he goes to her concerts, she’s a star. And he can be hanging out there and be the support or the waterboy.”
