KCPD investigating after victim killed trying to stop suspect from stealing vehicle

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run incident where the victim was killed trying to stop a suspect from stealing their vehicle.

The incident was reported just after 1 p.m. in the area of E. 29th Street and The Paseo.

KCPD said an unknown suspect was attempting to steal a white Ford F350 when the owner attempted to stop the suspect.

Police said the suspect stole the Ford and drove away dragging the victim with the vehicle. The victim was then dislodged from the vehicle and thrown to the pavement. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect left the scene in the stolen Ford without stopping, according to police.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
