KANSAS CITY, Mo. — No matter what part of the Kansas City area you live in, it looks like there’s a festival, live music or sports camp to check out this weekend.
Here are 10 events going on this weekend — July 19 through July 21 — that are worth checking out.
The Wyandotte County Fair is celebrating its 161st year this week. The fair started on Tuesday and goes on until Saturday. Click here for more information on things to do while at the fair.
Admission to the fair is $10. Admission is cash only. The fair will be open from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday and from 2 p.m. to midnight on Saturday.
Celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month at KC’s biggest lawn party! The event is an evening of live music, food trucks, art activities and lawn games stretching from the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art to Brush Creek.
The party starts at 4 p.m. Sunday and goes until 8 p.m.
Open practices begin on Sunday, July 21, and conclude on Thursday, August 15 at Missouri Western State University. Training Camp starts at 9:15 a.m.
All training camp practices will be free of charge to the public unless otherwise noted below or online. Training camp tickets must be reserved in advance while supplies last on the Chiefs’ website .

The Third Friday Art Walk drives support between artists, businesses and the community. Every month, portions of 6th Street shut down for the Art Walk. Start at Epic Arts Clay Studio to browse work by creative vendors within the road closure. You can experience an evening of diverse music, food, and art.
The event starts Friday, at 5 p.m. on 6th Street, up to Minnesota Ave.
Olathe Live! presents Surfin’ USA on Friday. Surfin’ USA features seven musicians from the Kansas City area. They have performed with several well-known acts across the country, including members of the Kansas Music Hall of Fame. They are committed to accurately recreating the music of the Beach Boys.
All are invited to the free WyCo Sheriff’s Splash, Bash, and BBQ at the Bonner Springs Aquatic Park. The first 200 guests will receive free admission paid by the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office.
There will be free hot dogs, chips, bottled water and lots of fun. The event starts at 4 p.m. on Friday.
Brooksider Sportsbar and Grill and The Farmer’s House are teaming up to empower the lives of youth and adults with developmental disabilities. The .08 race begins at the back door and ends inside the front door a cold brew will be waiting for you!
The event is $30 and includes a race t-shirt and a cold beer. Click here to register.
On Sunday, July 21, the Kansas City Royals will host an all-abilities camp for 21 Variety KC children at Kauffman Stadium. The camp starts at 10 a.m.
Retired Royals players and over two dozen dedicated Variety KC volunteers will help children of all abilities will be able to swing, field and run the bases.
The Amelia Earhart Festival is an annual celebration of all things Amelia.
The festival has downtown music, food and crafts fair, an outdoor concert, children’s activities, awards and honors, Earhart research and literature, music on the beautiful Riverfront, aerobatic performances and the “Concert in the Sky” fireworks show.
The KC Fringe Festival 2024 is the largest celebration of arts and culture in the Kansas City metropolitan area. KC Fringe offers opportunities to get up close and personal with artists who are creating—and experimenting with—theater, dance, film, music and visual arts.
