The Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receivers lived in headlines for all the wrong reasons last year. They were second in the NFL in drops, and it became clear at the tail end of the season that Patrick Mahomes had his select few pass-catchers that he trusted and several who he did not.

Amongst those was Kadarius Toney, who had five drops on 38 targets in 2023. With the Chiefs now in training camp, Dakota Randall of Pro Football Network has tabbed Toney as a cut candidate.

“Kadarius Toney has all the talent in the world but he just can’t seem to put it all together,” Randall Wrote. “He’ll be given every opportunity to prove himself in camp, but if he struggles, the Chiefs could move on while incurring just a $2.5 million dead cap charge.”

Toney had a massive impact on the Chiefs defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, catching a touchdown and recording the longest punt return in Super Bowl history of 65 yards to set the Chiefs up in scoring position. However, it now feels like a matter of when, not if, he gets cut.
