As he enters his third NFL season, 2024 could be the best year yet for Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco.

Expectations are high for the Chiefs' offense, and Pacheco will be one of its key pieces. After minicamp back in June, he stated that he has slimmed down a bit to improve his speed and fluidity . One way that he went about that was by working with a wide receivers coach.

Here's what Pacheco had to say after practice on Tuesday when he was asked what he worked on this offseason.

"I stretched a lot and did a lot of on-field work," Pacheco said. "I worked with a wide receiver coach. (I worked) to get more flexible, more fluid, just to be able to compete out here."

Having that approach to the season makes a lot of sense for Pacheco. The Chiefs have gone all-in on speed after acquiring receivers Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy. They are also experimenting with speedy receiver Kadarius Toney at running back . Now Pacheco, who is known for being more thunder than lightning, will try to keep up.

Make no mistake, though, Pacheco can scoot. He ran a 4.3 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine just two years ago. Now that he has lightened up and improved his flexibility, we may see a more elusive Pacheco. We may also him more involved in passing game given his work with a wide receivers coach.

It's no secret that Kansas City's offense will revolve around Patrick Mahomes and the vertical passing game. Mahomes may break his career high for passing attempts in 2024, which means more targets to go around. Pacheco is a very capable pass catcher and could feast underneath with opposing defenses attentions being downfield.

Having a quicker Pacheco with newly resharpened receiving abilities could take the Chiefs' offense to historic levels. Coach Andy Reid has an extensive history having his running backs heavily involved in the passing game. Pacheco has 57 career receptions for 374 yards and two touchdowns. If he can stay healthy, perhaps a Pro Bowl season is on the horizon.
