Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has always worn his emotions on his sleeve, and training camp is apparently no different for the superstar pass-catcher.

After wide receiver Kadarius Toney took a hard hit from defensive end George Karlaftis during drills on Wednesday, Kelce took exception and got in Karlaftis’ face.

This type of stuff happens quite frequently in training camp and practice, so it’s not too surprising to see the competitive spirit alive in well.

However, it didn’t appear that Karlaftis put anything extra behind the hit on Toney. He did blindside him, but it certainly did not appear to be a dirty play or anything of the sort.

But, you obviously don’t want to hurt your own teammates, and that is probably what Kelce was trying to tell Karlaftis.

You could also clearly see that Toney was not too happy with the hit, as he threw the football in Karlaftis’ direction following the play.

Karlaftis didn’t seem to want any part of an altercation, as he walked away from Kelce and then trotted off the field.

George Karlaftis is a rising star for the Chiefs

Karlaftis isn’t exactly a household name just yet, but he may ascend into that territory in 2024.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Purdue, was selected by the Chiefs with the 30th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He played in every game during his rookie campaign and was impressive, finishing with 33 tackles, six sacks and a couple of fumble recoveries.

Then, last season, Karlaftis made significant strides, appearing in 16 contests and racking up 47 tackles, 10.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

With Charles Omenihu recovering from a torn ACL, more pressure will be placed on the shoulders of Karlaftis to have a big impact in Kansas City’s pass rush this year.

Of course, the Chiefs also have All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones on the interior, but they will absolutely need huge production from Karlaftis to make up for the loss of Omenihu.

Meanwhile, Travis Kelce is entering his 12th NFL season and is aiming to make his 10th straight Pro Bowl appearance. He saw his streak of seven consecutive campaigns of over 1,000 yards come to an end last year when he finished with 984 yards in 15 games.
