Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justin Watson was carted off the field on Wednesday after suffering a brutal-looking injury during the team's training camp practice.

After the session ended, the team confirmed that Watson suffered a left foot injury.

Watson, 28, is heading into his third season as a member of the Kansas City organization. The former Tampa Bay pass catcher was the Chiefs' third leading receiver in 2023, reeling in 27 catches for 460 yards and three touchdowns.

Watson was set to enter the Chiefs' 2024 season as a depth piece behind rising second-year star Rashee Rice and new additions Marquise "Hollywood" Brown and Xavier Worthy. The team may now be forced to lean more heavily on reserve wideouts Kadarius Toney and Mecole Hardman.

The Chiefs will kickoff their preseason schedule with a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 10. They'll begin their regular season with a Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5.
