Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes revealed teammate Travis Kelce has had his Star Wars ringtone for almost a decade.
The ringtone is anything but easy on the ears. Kelce's phone blasts a shrill R2D2 scream until he picks up or it goes to voicemail.
Kelce's New Heights podcast account on X posted a clip of the superstar tight end answering a call from his brother and podcast co-host, Jason, on an old NFL Films episode of the league's NFL 100 series. The tweet read, "Trav had the greatest ringtone of all time in 2015" followed by some crying-laughing emojis.
The NFL is currently ranking their top 100 players of the 2024 NFL season and released the same video on their official Instagram account. Mahomes responded to the New Heights tweet, claiming "that man still has that ringtone lol".

The duo have been teammates since 2017. Perhaps Kelce's girlfriend, 14-time Grammy-award artist Taylor Swift , is a fan of the R2D2 ringtone. In an old interview with the late Barbara Walters, the pop star indicated that she dressed up as Chewbacca for Halloween.
“We noticed all of the girls in school were going to dress as like, a sexy police officer or a sexy student or a sexy teacher. And we’re like we’re going to be full on Chewbaccas right now.," Swift gleaned.
In a recent podcast appearance, Kelce's former Chiefs teammate and fellow tight end Jody Fortson tacitly implied he may have had the same ringtone back in 2019.
"[Kelce] had this crazy ringtone. It was like somebody screaming [and] it sounded like somebody being murdered," Fortson told The Dive Bar podcast in a recent interview.
"We’re in a team meeting and everybody is in there… he just gets up, bolts out, he doesn’t even shut the phone off. He just throws it down the hallway."

Kelce recently checked into Kansas City training camp alongside Mahomes. The Chiefs are practicing at the Missouri Western State University facilities from July 21 until August 15.
The star tight end spent most of the summer gallivanting across Europe alongside Swift on the singer's record-breaking Eras tour. Like last season, the pair will be forced to spend extended periods apart as they focus on their respective professions.
Kansas City's preseason commences on August 11th with a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
