Victim dies from injuries following Sunday shooting near 13th, Paseo

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A shooting Sunday night in Kansas City is now being investigated as a homicide after the victim died from his injuries days later.

According to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call just before 7:50 p.m. Sunday, July 21, in the area of E. 13th Street and The Paseo.

When officers arrived on scene they were directed to a man who was on the ground unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

KCPD detectives were notified Friday, July 26, that the victim, identified as 19-year-old Xavier Williams, died from his injuries.

The incident is now being investigated as a homicide, according to KCPD.
