Harrison Butker Is Trending After Issue With Olympics Opening Ceremony

Kicker Harrison Butker is at Kansas City Chiefs training camp preparing for the 2024 NFL season. But he apparently watched the Summer Olympics opening ceremony in Paris on Friday and was less than impressed with one scene from the performance.

Butker voiced his displeasure on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the opening ceremony's depiction of Leonardo da Vinci's famous mural, "The Last Supper," which featured a group of drag queens positioned on an elevated red carpet.

In his criticism of the scene, Butker quoted a verse from The Book of Galatians in the Bible.

"Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For what things a man shall sow, those also shall he reap. For he that soweth in his flesh, of the flesh also shall reap corruption. But he that soweth in the spirit, of the spirit shall reap life everlasting."

Butker has received a lot of praise for his stance against the scene from the opening ceremony. The kicker's tweet had more than 110,000 likes less than 24 hours after it was posted.

Many other Christians also expressed their dislike of the apparent mockery of "The Last Supper" on social media.

Butker became a controversial figure this summer after he gave a commencement address at Benedictine College in Kansas.

He congratulated the women receiving degrees from Benedictine College but then said most of them should be more excited about getting married and having children.

The kicker also attacked Pride Month and President Joe Biden's stance on abortion.

Butker received major pushback for his speech. But that's apparently not going to stop him from sharing his opinions on social issues.
