Chiefs rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy is continuing to make insane plays look effortless at training camp

When the 2024 NFL Draft kicked off, it was apparent the Kansas City Chiefs were going to go after a wide receiver. They needed one after the abysmal showing of the unit put together in 2023. But, not many knew they would go after a guy like Xavier Worthy, who is the fastest player in the history of the NFL Combine, the way they did - via trading up.

We saw Worthy's speed on true display during OTAs and rookie minicamp , where he continually connected with Patrick Mahomes on a deep ball over and over again. He got a slow start to 2024 training camp because of a hamstring injury, but now that he's back, we are seeing more of that on display.

Training camp has been great so far with the Chiefs having plenty of position battles, a few fights already, and both sides of the ball creating some pretty good highlights.

In the case of the offense, we have some more highlights of Mahomes and Worthy displaying what looks to be an already elite connection, with Worthy going deep and snagging a ball that showed great coverage by the defense.

On the first one, Worthy ran some sort of over route that went over the middle of the field, but towards the end zone opposite of where he started on the left of scrimmage. He was being defended by defensive back Kelvin Joseph, who actually played great defense on the play.

The catch was just that much better. Worthy caught the ball with Joseph draped over him, and stood up and spun it in the end zone while he celebrated.

The second play saw Worthy really using that elite speed to get open. And, when I say open, he was wide open with no one really around him.

We have to remember how good this defense is. When you see Wiorthy making great plays against this defense, it's a testament to how good he is, because this was a top-five defense last season. Worthy is showing that he can be an elite player.
