CASS COUNTY, NE ( KSNT ) – A sheriff’s office in eastern Nebraska was called to help a Kansas City man after his parachute failed while he was trying to land.

The Cass County Nebraska Sheriff’s Office issued a press release on Saturday, July 27 of an incident reported around 2:10 p.m. on the same day near the town of Weeping Water. Deputies were called to the Lincoln Sport Parachute Club following a 911 call made to the Cass County Communications Center.

Deputies arriving in the area found a 41-year-old Kansas City, Missouri man was being taken to a nearby hospital by the Weeping Water Rescue squad for treatment of head trauma. Emergency medical services such as the Cass County EMS, Avoca Fire and Weeping Water Rescue were already at the scene.

Reports received by law enforcement indicate the man’s parachute buckled 20 feet in the air which caused him to fall rapidly and land on a car before hitting the ground. The man is expected to make a full recovery despite the incident.
