The Kansas City Chiefs are getting to work. As we all know, because it's been re-iterated a million times - the Chiefs are going for the three-peat, which no team has ever done before. To do that, the offense must get much better than they were last year, and the defense, well, they have to replicate another amazing year like last season.

The defense finished the 2023 season as one of the best units in the league. The last time you could say a Chiefs defense was a top-five unit, well, let's just say it's been a bit. Now they're at training camp putting in work, and we're already hearing great things about the unit.

The Chiefs' defense does have an advantage in 2024, though, in the fact that they get to go up against the offense every day in practice and training camp. In fact, no one is benefiting more in training camp than the offense is.

“We’ve got a historic offense. We’ve got the best player in football (Patrick Mahomes) across from us (and) we’ve got the best tight end ever (Travis Kelce)," linebacker Drue Tranquill said on Sunday. "We’ve got a slew of receivers that can threaten the field (vertically) – level-one, level-two, (and) level-three.

"We’ve got one of the most physical offensive lines in the NFL – they make it tough, in every aspect of the game. You’ve got a Hall of Fame coach in (Head Coach) Andy Reid, (Offensive Coordinator) Matt Nagy, and their entire staff, designing tough plays (and) that you haven’t seen before, so they challenge us each and every day, but it just makes us better.”

No other defense in the league is at training camp going against the greatest offensive mind in the history of the NFL in Andy Reid, and no other defense in the NFL is going against the best quarterback in the league and a guy who has already cemented himself as a top-three QB ever.

That's the reason the defense is benefitting so much - they are going against the best, making themselves better. And then you add that the Chiefs added two new pieces in Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown who have elite speed, and the defense is definitely getting better.
