    Damage reported around Kansas City area overnight as storms swept through area

    Update, 1:00 p.m. | Evergy said 80% of customers have had their power restored.

    The company said about 1,100 crew members are working to clear trees and restore power.

    Linemen from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois and Iowa will arrive this afternoon to assist.

    Some customers in the Kansas City area could have power out until Friday evening, while in the Salina and Topeka area could have outages until Saturday.

    Update, 8:20 a.m. | As of 8:20 a.m., there were just under 19,000 customers without power in the Kansas City area.

    Update, 7:05 a.m. | Storm damage was more visible near east 38th Street and Agnes Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.

    KSHB 41's Olivia Acree spotted a tree in two homes in the area.

    Evergy said the storms caused about 117,000 customers to lose power.

    By Thursday morning, there was just under 23,000 customers without power.

    By Thursday morning, just over 24,000 customer were without power in the Kansas City area.

    KSHB 41 received a call about damage in the area near east 38th Street and Agnes Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.

    A KSHB 41 photographer found a tree on a house in that area.

    We also found a tree blocking the road at Red Bridge and Washington in south Kansas City.
