Metro Boomin Launches Grant Program For Single Mothers

Metro Boomin launched a grant program for single mother non-profit organizations this week, the superstar producer announced, kicking off in conjunction with the start of his We Trust You North America Tour with Future in Kansas City on Tuesday.

The new program, called the Leslie Joanne Single Moms Are Superheroes grant program, will be providing $20,000 grants and concert tickets in all of the 21 markets the tour is stopping through to non-profit organizations that provide support to single mothers. The first grant went to the Kansas City nonprofit Essential Families. Along with the money, Essential Families brought two mothers and their children out to the first show.

Inspired by his experience being raised by a single mother himself, the producer first started his Single Moms Are Superheroes initiative seven years ago. That initiative took on a new meaning after Metro’s mother Leslie Joanne — who the program is named after — died in 2022. Last December, he hosted the Leslie Joanne Soirée in St. Louis to honor 250 single mothers in the city, where the grant program was first announced. Metro was also given the key to the city that day.

“I’ve always been a mama’s boy my whole life,” Metro told Rolling Stone last December, speaking about the gala. “I’ve seen firsthand, with my mother, how hard it is being a single mother.”

With the first show in Kansas City wrapped, Metro and Future are slated to play at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota Wednesday night. The tour will make its way through much of the U.S. over the next month before wrapping up in Vancouver at the Rogers Arena on September 9.
