Morgan Wallen, acclaimed country artist and winner of multiple Billboard Music Awards, took his successful 2024 tour to Kansas City for a Friday night concert at Arrowhead Stadium.  In front of a sold-out screaming crowd, Wallen walked on the stage wearing Harrison Butker's No. 7 red Chiefs jersey with Wallen's last name on the back (instead of Butker's) flanked by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, and defensive tackle Chris Jones. Wallen also reportedly told the audience to stand up for their beliefs.

It is worth noting that Wallen has a reputation for wearing the No. 7 local jersey in cities he performs in which means wearing a Chiefs No. 7 jersey is not out of character.  However, Wallen seemed to make it more focused on Butker with the comment to the crowd about standing up for their beliefs.

Harrison Butker has been a surprising Chiefs player to make news this offseason beginning with his controversial Benedictine College commencement address in May where he shared his personal conservative opinions on women in society.  As a result, at last month's ESPYs, host Serena Williams and sister Venus Williams directed a comment to Butker in the audience.

Last week, Butker commented on the Olympic opening ceremony and what he believed was overt mocking and disrespect for the Leonardo da Vinci classic painting of the Last Supper by the drag queen performers.

Mahomes and Kelce have carefully toed the line, particularly with Butker's Benedictine College comments about women, and focused on his qualities as a person and teammate.  Many wonder what Kelce's superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift thinks of Butker's comments and Kelce's appearance at the concert.

Wallen is no stranger to recent controversy including a run-in with the law ending with charges filed against him for throwing a chair off the roof of country musician Eric Church's Nashville bar in April.  The chair landed close to two police officers on the ground.
