NFL fans have been left dumbstruck by Patrick Mahomes’ ranking on the league’s annual Top 100 list.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is a three-time Super Bowl champion and has twice been named league MVP.

Despite his credentials, Mahomes wasn’t even the highest-rated quarterback in the league’s controversial rankings.

The NFL revealed on Friday he was ranked at No. 4 in the list ahead of the upcoming 2024 season.

Reigning league MVP Lamar Jackson was at No.2, taking the mantle as the league’s best quarterback.

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey beat Mahomes into the top three, despite losing the QB at Super Bowl LVIII in February.

Ex-Chiefs wide receiver and former Mahomes target Tyreek Hill walked away with the coveted No. 1 spot.

The list was met with incredulity from some NFL fans, who flocked onto social media to complain.

“In what world is Mahomes not #1,” replied one on X.

“This invalidates the entire list,” gasped another.

“All of the players ranked above him in this list have one thing in common…… they all lost to Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs,” commented a third.

“This has to be a misprint,” added a fourth.

“His rank is lower than the number of rings he has,” laughed a fifth.

Drafted as the No. 10 overall pick in 2017, Mahomes has developed into a superstar since taking over as a starter at Arrowhead Stadium.

He is a six-time Pro Bowler and has twice led the NFL in passing touchdowns.

Mahomes put up stunning numbers in 2023, despite throwing to a receiving corps plagued by drops.

Patrick Mahomes earns over $50 million per season from his Kansas City Chiefs contract.

But the superstar quarterback also cashes in on his brand off the field.

Mahomes has a reported net worth of $70 million.

And that’s in no small part down to some of the brand he endorses.

The Chiefs star is the face of Adidas in the United States and appears in State Farm commercials.

He also pops up on adverts for Subway and Head and Shoulders.

Mahomes also became the face of energy drink Prime, which is owned by Logan Paul and KSI.

He threw for 4,183 yards across 16 regular season games and rushed for a career-high 389 yards.

The 28-year-old came alive during the postseason, throwing for a further 1,051 yards and 6 touchdowns as he led the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowl titles.

Hill meanwhile left the Chiefs in 2022 to join the Miami Dolphins.

The speedster has since established himself as the league’s most explosive downfield threat.

Hill led the league last season in receiving yards with 1,799, bringing in 13 touchdowns.

Both his receptions (119) and yardage totals were Dolphins franchise records.
