The NFL released its annual Top 100 rankings recently, and as always, there is a ton of controversial decisions that come with it. Perhaps the most staggering one was Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes being ranked at No. 4.

The top three players, in order, are Tyreek Hill, Lamar Jackson, and Christian McCaffrey with Mahomes slotting in at No. 4.

It's caused quite a stir, and NFL analyst Peter Schrager chimed in on Sunday with a video he posted on his X account.

"Patrick Mahomes No. 4 on the NFL's top 100...What's even more spicy, the second-best quarterback in the league? Second time Lamar has got MVP over him. The second time Lamar has been ranked higher on the NFL 100. I assume Mahomes saw it."

Mahomes was the No. 1 player in the 2023 NFL Top 100, and all he did was win another Super Bowl and also named Super Bowl MVP.

Yet, Lamar Jackson was ranked over him at the quarterback position. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback also won the 2023 NFL MVP award.

To make things more "spicy," Mahomes and the Chiefs defeated Lamar Jackson and the Ravens in the AFC title game to go to the Super Bowl.

But now, Jackson is ranked ahead of the Chiefs' signal-caller in a bit of a surprising decision.

Nonetheless, it's just a ranking, but perhaps this is even more motivation for Mahomes as the Chiefs begin a quest for a Super Bowl three-peat.

Schrager ended the clip by saying, "We'll have thoughts on Monday." So, tuning in to "Good Morning Football" might be worth it to see what else Schrager has to say.
