Kansas City Chiefs Could Trade This Disappointing Playmaker

The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking to make history during the 2024 season. They are the two-time defending Super Bowl champions and no team in NFL history has ever won three in a row.

With the 2024 season just a few weeks away, the Chiefs have to be among the favorites to take home the Lombardi Trophy again. In six seasons with Patrick Mahomes as their starting quarterback, the team has advanced to the AFC Championship Game in everyone.

Last season, Mahomes was able to help the offense overcome some issues at wide receiver. After losing JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency, Kansas City was hopeful that some of their young players would step up and fill the void.

The only player who answered the call was rookie Rashee Rice. The underwhelming performance of Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore led the Chiefs to upgrade their talent at the position during the 2024 offseason.

In free agency, the Chiefs signed Marquise Brown to a one-year contract. He will be looking to capitalize on a season with Mahomes and turn it into a multi-year pact, similar to what Smith-Schuster did.

In the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Kansas City selected speedster Xavier Worthy out of Texas. The Buffalo Bills completed an inexplicable trade with the Chiefs to hand them what looks like a perfect weapon for their offense.

With the new additions, we could see some more changes in the position during training camp or ahead of the regular season. Anthony DiBona of Pro Football Network believes that Moore could be traded.

“Following Tyreek Hill’s departure, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Skyy Moore in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Moore was supposed to be an explosive weapon in Kansas City’s offense, yet he has struggled to find a consistent role.

There is likely another team around the NFL that still believes Moore has potential. Despite the disappointing start to his career in Kansas City, Moore would likely benefit from a change of scenery and being traded by the Chiefs,” DiBona wrote.

The Western Michigan product hasn’t come close to reaching expectations in Kansas City. Despite the opportunity for playing time being presented, he has not taken advantage.

In 30 regular season games, Moore has caught only 43 passes for 494 yards and one touchdown. He has added six rushes for 47 yards.

The only thing likely keeping him on the roster is the uncertainty surrounding Rice. He is facing discipline from the league for off-the-field matters and the Chiefs could end up needing some depth at the position if a suspension comes down this season.
