Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt 's daughter, Ava , suffered "deep" injuries after falling down a mountain while hiking.
Late on Monday, Aug. 5, Ava's mother, Tavia Shackles , took to her Instagram Story to announce the accident.
“This little thang fell down the mountain today on a hike🥾 & went to the ER for surgery on a deep wound 😢,” she wrote alongside a photo of the mother-daughter duo. “It’s been a looong day.”
Shackles added: "Praise God she's in recovery and already smiling. Please pray for a quick & complete recovery!🙏🏻."
In addition to reposting her mom's story, Ava offered an update by sharing a photo of her bandaged left knee with the 2024 Paris Olympics playing on a TV in the background.
“Update: surgery went very smoothly and I’m back at home watching my favorite @simonebiles!!" she wrote. Though she said she was “feeling great,” she admitted that she “might still be a little drugged up 😆.”
Ava noted she was "feeling great," while acknowledging she might also "still be a little drugged up."
She finished by adding: Thank you for all of your sweet messages and prayers!!🤍.”

In addition to Ava, Clark and Shackles have two other daughters. Gracie , the eldest, was named Miss Kansas USA in 2021, and Knobel is the youngest.
