The reigning Super Bowl-champion Kansas City Chiefs will kickoff their preseason schedule with a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium on Saturday night.

Most NFL teams sit their star players during preseason play in order to prevent unnecessary injuries, but Chiefs head coach Andy Reid isn't going down that path.

Reid plans to roll out all of his available players in Saturday's game — including superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. 34-year-old tight end Travis Kelce will also take the field in Jacksonville.

Reid said he plans to play his starters for one quarter.

"As far as the play time for this game, we'll go the ones for a quarter, twos for the second quarter, threes the third quarter and fours for the fourth quarter, and we'll just keep it at that," Reid said.

"I'm gonna play everybody," he continued. "All those young guys, I'd love to see how they compete."

"It's cool, I like playing in the preseason, honestly,' Mahomes said of the decision. "Make sure we're doing stuff in the right way and getting out. Keeping everybody healthy and playing the sport that I love.

"Hopefully we can go out there and play a good football game. I always want to get hit, but not hit hard. A little nudge, that's all I need."

Saturday's game will kickoff at 7 p.m. ET.
