Travis Kelce 'immediately' jumped into action after Taylor Swift terror attack plot

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce immediately contacted his girlfriend Taylor Swift after hearing that a terrorist attack was almost carried out at one of her Vienna shows.

Swift had to cancel her "Eras Tour" shows in Vienna, Austria, after two suspects were arrested and another detained for plotting an explosive attack. A 19-year-old and 17-year-old were arrested and appear to have been inspired by the Islamic State group and al-Qaeda, according to the head of Austria's Directorate of State Security and Intelligence.

A source told Page Six that Kelce was "very concerned" and instantly reached out to Swift to check in on his girlfriend and discover more about the developing situation. As much as Kelce would love to fly to Europe to support Swift, his NFL commitments mean that he's unable to leave Kansas City with preseason days away.

Following the show cancellations, all fans will have their tickets refunded after event organizer Barracuda Music posted a statement. "With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety," it read.

"All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days." The Vienna shows were expected to host 65,000 fans each day and 10,000 fans without tickets were also plotting to gather in the local area and show their support, according to police.

Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, head of Austria's Directorate of State Security and Intelligence, hosted a conference on Thursday to offer more details on the arrests. The main suspect was the 19-year-old, who is an Austrian citizen.

Haijawi-Pirchner stated that the suspect confessed to his terror attack plans during an interrogation. He allegedly planned to kill himself after harming "as many people as possible" using knives and homemade explosives, something he learned how to make following detailed research online.

Police also arrested a second suspect on Wednesday afternoon, a 17-year-old Austrian citizen. Kelce has only been away from Swift for a few weeks, after spending the majority of the summer touring Europe with her.

Kelce supported Swift in European nations such as England, Germany, and Sweden, but was due back for Chiefs training camp on July 21. With Swift's "Eras Tour" not scheduled to finish until Dec. 8 the couple now faces a period of long distance, the longest period they've been separated since they started dating last year.

Swift attended 12 NFL games last season in support of Kelce and even flew across the world from Tokyo to witness Super Bowl LVIII. She won't have the chance to attend Arrowhead Stadium as early this season, but her tour wraps up before the start of the playoffs.
