LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A Little Rock woman is recovering after she was attacked by a dog on the Fourth of July.

Stacy Mack said her life has been crazy since her neighbors moved in a year ago. The 53-year-old  says it’s been constant chaos between the two about their dogs, but she never thought she’d end up injured from it.

“My thumb is broken,” Mack said.

She said that not only is her thumb broken but both her hands are severely damaged.

“I’m a bigger woman. That’s the only reason I’m alive, that’s the only reason I only have the damage I have,” Mack said.

She said the attack happened in the morning when she was in the backyard.

“I went outside to put food and water out for the birds and whatnot, and as I was putting ice cubes in the water, I felt something,” Mack said. “I thought it was a cat.”

According to Mack, it was her neighbor’s pit bull. After the attack, she said she ran into her house to grab her keys to get to a hospital, but before driving away she claims she was attacked again.

“I had to literally pistol whip the dog off me and get it away from me off the concrete so that I could shoot it,” she described.

According to a report from the Little Rock Animal Control, the dog was killed and officers arrived at both Mack’s and her neighbor’s home after, but by then Mack said she was already at the hospital.

Both women were set to appear in court, but court records state that her neighbor never showed up, leading to a failure to appear warrant being issued against the neighbor.
