LINCOLN, NEBRASKA (KCAU) – #8 Guardian Angels Central Catholic looked its keep its Cinderella run intact facing #4 Ainsworth in the NSAA Boys State Basketball Tournament, but this time the Bulldogs were the ones hitting a game-winner as Nebraska football commit Carter Nelson sank the deciding jumper in the final seconds to defeat the Bluejays 54-53 in the Class D-1 State semifinals.

Konnor Kralik led the Bluejays with a game-high 21 points.

“The kids fought hard, you know it was a back and forth game at the end there,” GACC head coach Bryan Mendlik said. “We had some mistakes on some inbounds plays were we turned it over and in the state tournament you want to get to the finals you can’t make those mistakes. So we had our chances, they did a good job of pulling through and we couldn’t get a shot off, a good shot to off at the end so that’s why you play the game I guess.”

Guardian Angels Central Catholic faces Plainview in the 3rd place game on Saturday at Lincoln Northwest High School. Tip off set for 11:00am.
