LINCOLN COUNTY, S.D. (KELO) — The land upon which the new South Dakota Men’s Prison will be built is now in the hands of the South Dakota Department of Corrections, with the transfer of the deed of the two parcels of land in rural Lincoln County occurring on February 23, 2024.

The parcels, which were previously held in the possession of the Office of School and Public Lands, were officially signed over by School and Public Lands commissioner Brock Greenfield on January 9, 2024, under the witness of Governor Kristi Noem, whose signature is on the warranty deed alongside Greenfield’s.
