Buena Vista Athletics breaks ground on fieldhouse expansion

STORM LAKE, Iowa (KCAU) – Shovels and hard hats were out in Storm Lake, breaking ground on Phase One of the Buena Vista University athletic program’s $10 million campaign towards a new addition to Siebens Fieldhouse.

The proposed expansion will include more than 7,000 square feet of additional space. Some of the new amenities include a new athletic performance facility, dedicated areas for training and conditioning, and renovations to the wrestling room and recreation center. An exciting endeavor for both student-athletes and the entire BVU community.

“I’m so excited. I’ve been here for 10 years and I feel like we’ve been talking about a project like this for the 10 years that I’ve been here so to finally be breaking ground and moving forward on an athletic facility is just awesome.” Buena Vista University Director of Athletics Amy Maier said.

“This is a great day for Buena Vista Athletics. Our athletic facilities were built it 1969, we had seven teams and we now have 21 teams. To be able to expand on our locker rooms, our exercise facilities, our workout facilities is great and its important to the student experience.” Buena Vista University President Brian A. Lenzmeier added.

Phase One construction is set to begin this summer.
