    Northeast Community College working to determine cause of Norfolk building collapse

    NORFOLK, Neb. (KCAU) — Northeast Community College said they are currently working to determine the cause of a building collapse that happened in Norfolk on Thursday.

    According to Northeast Community College, they are working with the general contractor to determine the cause.

    “We are currently working with the general contractor to determine the cause of the collapse. We have no additional information at this time,” said Jerry Guenther with Northeast Community College.

    The building collapse happened on the 700 block of Norfolk Avenue, causing that part of the road to have to be closed temporarily.

    The City announced the closure to media at around 2:22 p.m. on Thursday and the road was able to be reopened that same night around 6:53 p.m., according to a Facebook post .

    The collapsed building was being prepared for reconstruction at the time of the collapse, Northeast Community College told KCAU 9 on Thursday.

    No additional details are available at this time.
