HAWARDEN, Iowa (KCAU) – Last year was a learning one for west Sioux football, who finished the season under .500 for the first time since 2013. West Sioux’s 4-5 record was the fewest wins in a season since 2013, snapping its nine-year streak of seasons above .500.

Blake Wiggins will have another year of experience at QB after accounting for 1,772 total yards and 20 touchdowns last season. Two-way talent Kolton Koopmans will be back for the Falcons as well. The incoming senior was fourth in Class 1A with 49 receptions while also leading the Falcons in receiving yards and offense as well as tackles and interceptions on defense.

Just a pair of many experienced Falcons players looking to return West Sioux to success.

“The stage that they set in the weight room and the example they make…my seniors have done a tremendous job with that and kind of knowing what West Sioux football is all about and what the expectations are. It’s just one of those deals where it’s back to the same recipe that’s given us success in the past and hopefully that will translate to wins again this fall.” West Sioux head coach Ryan Schwiesow said.

West Sioux will play at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Week 1 on August 30th. The Falcons have won the last seven meetings dating back to 2014.
