HULL, Iowa (KCAU) – Coming off a 1-8 season last year, the Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley Nighthawks are aiming to flip the script in 2024.

B-H/RV has endured back-to-back seasons with three or fewer wins after a stretch of 20 wins in the two seasons prior. The Nighthawks will look to replenish its offensive production after losing Alic Salazar, who totaled the second-most all-purpose yards in the district. On the flipside, quarterback Carter Kleinwolterink looks to build off a season in which he threw for over 1,700 yards and 14 TD’s.

This offseason has been a unique one for the Nighthawks, who have been greatly impacted by flooding. The team has practiced in a handful of spots outside of its own, using that resiliency off the field to build toward success on the field.

“Our kids have been so resilient, and that’s kind of been the name of the game for us this entire year, so far. Since the flood hit us, everything is different and nothing will ever be the same. To that, we say good. We’re trying to find a way to make it for us and in every situation you can’t control the circumstances, but you can control your attitude and your effort with it and it’s translated directly to practice, so that’s been a ton of fun to see.” B-H/RV head coach Jayme Rozeboom said. They’ve really found a way to bond together through it all. It’s been difficult. It’s been a giant challenge. But, there’s been so many great people that have found ways to make it the best way we possibly can.”

B-H/RV will start its season off against Western Christian on August 30th. The Nighthawks are in search of its first win over the Wolfpack since 2021.
