McCook Lake Izaak Walton League holds hamburger corn feed

UNION COUNTY, S.D. (KCAU) — On Thursday night, the McCook Lake Izaak Walton League offered some help to flooding victims in the form of a corn and burger feed.

Every August, the Izaak Walton League holds an annual hamburger corn feed. This year, though, the group decided to extend an invitation to residents of McCook Lake and Union County who were affected by flooding.

From the looks of it, nobody went home hungry. Seeing smiles and laughter from those negatively impacted by high water makes for a special event.

“It’s really a great time, coming together just to have fun and enjoy everyone’s company,’ Renae Hansen with the Izaak Walton League said. “And you know everyone is kind of at a spot now where we’re all just sitting around and waiting for the next step. So this is a nice way to break the mold and kind of get out of the routine.”

The Izaak Walton League clubhouse served as home base during the first few weeks after the disaster. Thursday night’s event offered a much different setting for people living in the flood zone.
