The Hawkeyes depth chart was released Monday afternoon, and there was a shocker. RB1 is not Leshon Williams or Kaleb Johnson — it’s redshirt freshman Kamari Moulton.

Moulton was buried in the depth chart last season — by far his most notable game was his two-touchdown performance against Western Michigan. He’s impressed offensive coordinator Tim Lester, who compares Moulton to former Packers Pro Bowler Aaron Jones.

“Aaron Jones and that certain play he’s really good at running — Kamari really has a knack for that play,” Lester said. “Everyone else needs reps at it so I think that’s the buzz you’re hearing.”

Senior Leshon Williams is still nursing a lower body injury, and Kaleb Johnson drops down to RB3. The Hawkeyes open the season against the Redbirds on August 31.
